|Fagligt indhold:||Bornholm is teeming with entrepreneurial spirit. And the island houses large successful companies as well as a body of smaller up-and-coming business initiatives. In this way, Bornholm runs counter to global trends of primarily younger people constantly seeking into the large cities, while the outskirts remain populated mainly with the older generations.
This course offers an novel way of working with innovation and entrepreneurship, inspired by the recent successes of Bornholm. The course will be set in the scenic environs of the Bornholm Island in 2 weeks in August.
The course caters to the challenge of grappling with concrete business challenges by means of a design and business approach. These challenges are set in the interface between local resources and expertise and the global business potentials these bear. To this end, the students’ leveraging of interdisciplinary know-how and dynamics will be an essential ingredient.
In collaboration with local companies on Bornholm as well as other potential stakeholders, students engage in tapping into, navigating and integrating diverse sources of knowledge and insights. This will be through addressing new business challenges and identifying undiscovered potentials. Through generative business modeling, the course activities conclude with a ‘company pitch’. To be presented is a concept and a business plan, delivered to the collaborating company.
The course embodies design thinking as a vehicle for innovation and entrepreneurship, in combination with business thinking and strategic management of innovation.
The course engages focused lectures, inspirational talks, as well as working with theories and methods and doing field research in groups, to channel and apply them to the business challenge at hand.
The course thus integrates innovation and entrepreneurship through a design approach, which facilitates interlinkages and integration of multiple sets of concerns into a meaningful whole.
