Formelle forudsætninger:None, although it is strongly recommended that students are familiar with, or have prior experience with the following:
- Any programming language, either through coursework or prior industry practice.
- A basic understanding of programming concepts, such as variables, debugging and basic
procedural and object-oriented aspects of programming.
Læringsmål:On successful completion of this course students should be able to: (i) understand and apply various web programming concepts, tools and techniques as well as the principles of user interface design in developing dynamic web applications; (ii) develop and design a web-based user interface from existing server-side resources; (iii) use object-oriented features of web programming; and (iv) create dynamic web sites that are effective in interacting with the visitors on the Web and are able to validate their input data.
Fagligt indhold:The course will provide an overview of popular Web technologies and frameworks with particular emphasis placed on front-end (client-side) development. Students will sketch, design and implement their own websites and Web applications. The course is divided into two parts:

Part 1 - Foundation

The first part of the course introduces the core technologies of the Web and provides an introduction to HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP. The course will ensure that students can sketch, design and implement websites and Web applications. Students will gain an understanding of the affordances and limitations of Web technologies. This part of the course will also introduce a number of design principles, best practices and tools.

Part 2 - Frameworks

The second part of the course introduces frameworks. Frameworks streamline common development practices and simplify the creation of front-facing Web applications and interfaces through the use of common components and design patterns. Frameworks are built 'on top of' HTML, CSS and JavaScript, so while they are immensely useful, they rely on a solid understanding of these core technologies. This course will teach WordPress, Angular and React -- three very popular frameworks that are used in modern Web application development. The course will also provide a theoretical understanding of object-oriented programming, asynchrony and modular component-based development. Students will apply these principles in their projects.
Læringsaktiviteter:14 ugers undervisning bestående af forelæsninger og øvelser

The course will consist of lectures followed by an exercise period. The exercise period will be used
to:
- Conduct and practice simple exercises so that students can familiarise and equip themselves with
the foundational aspects of the course.
- Allow students to work on their major deliverables for the course, with the assistance and
supervision of TAs.
- Provide pre-booked one-on-one private consultations with the students, so that students can
receive specialised help on challenging or interesting aspects of the course.
